Banswara, Rajasthan 9th September 2004
Microplan villages of Jethaliya and Salimarya.
The village also ran a grain bank, here cultivators in need could borrow grain to be used either as food or as seed for cultivation. The interest rate applied was of twenty percent.
The interest gained and the borrowed quantity would be returned by the farmer at harvest time.
This is part of a set of income generating activities undertaken in these villages, all triggered by WFP.
