BOGOTA-The World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Department of the Atlantic have decided to work together to combine efforts and resources to support a food and nutrition plan of the Atlantic, seeking to combat food insecurity and undernutrition in that department.
To achieve this goal, WFP will provide advice, expertise, and technical capacity in regard to the reduction of deficiencies of vitamins and minerals. This activity will take place through a programme of home fortification with micronutrient powder.
These micronutrients, labeled by WFP as "Nutritional Sprinkles" are a powder mixture of vitamins and minerals containing iron, zinc, folic acid, vitamin A and vitamin C. These sprinkles are specially designed to be administered to children 6 months to 5 years old.
