WFP London Marks 50th Anniversary And Olympics

To celebrate the 2012 Olympics and mark its 50th anniversary, WFP’s London office has launched – together with Crossrail* - an inspirational exhibition of photos in the capital, showing children from the developing world playing games.

The Hunger to Hope exhibition is displayed on Crossrail hoardings at two major sites – in Paddington and Holborn.  The images of children at play have been donated to WFP by some of the world’s leading photographers.

The aim is to remind Londoners and visitors that adequate food and nourishment are needed by children around the world to give them the energy to play.  WFP provides food assistance to nearly 26 million children in schools in some 66 countries.

The images are uplifting and demonstrate the link between WFP’s work and the “Olympic spirit” – mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity and fair play.
The images and exhibition have been provided entirely free to WFP, which is voluntarily funded.

*Crossrail is increasing London’s rail-based transport network across the capital.
