On 5 August, it’s all about youth at the UN! To celebrate this year’s International Youth Day, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and other senior UN officials will speak directly with young people from around the world.
In an interactive discussion entitled “UNiting for Youth,” the Secretary-General will share his initiatives for youth with about 700 young participants connected from Belgium, Brazil, India, Lebanon and Nigeria, plus 600 participants at UN Headquarters.
A second segment of the event will be an interactive panel discussion with four senior UN officials: Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director of UNFPA; Laskhmi Puri, Acting Head of UN Women; Sima Bahous, Assistant Secretary-General and Director for Arab States at UNDP; and Charles Dan, Special Representative on Youth and Social Inclusion at ILO. The four panelists will also be joined by a youth leader, to be announced soon.
