WFP And The Hunger Games Movie Inspire Teenage Humanitarians To Take On Hunger

 What does it mean to be a humanitarian? This World Humanitarian Day, organizations and celebrities alike will encourage you to celebrate the people in your community working to improve the lives of others. We wanted to introduce you to two teenage humanitarians in the seventh grade who set out to end hunger. They showed us that being a humanitarian has nothing to do with how old you are. Welcome To A School In Sweden Changing The Tune on Hunger

 Meet Erica Stålblad. She’s a student at Helenholms School in Malmö, Sweden who decided to help the World Food Programme make a difference in the lives of hungry people worldwide. She not only convinced her classmates to join her: she also inspired Swedish musician Tingsek to help her turn up the volume on how together we can solve hunger.

Holding the Olympic Torch for WFP – Vadsana’s adventure

 Meet Vadsana. She works for WFP’s school meals programme in her native Laos, helping ensure that over 152,000 children around the country receive nutritious meals in school. On Sunday July 1st, she represented WFP at the Olympic Torch Relay in the UK, carrying the Flame through the streets of Birmingham as it made its way to London to start the 2012 Olympic Games.
