Ecuador Earthquake (For the Media)

On 16 April, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador leaving more than 570 people dead, 7,000 injured and more than 500,000 in need of humanitarian assistance, mostly on the Pacific coast. WFP has been supporting and helping the Government’s capacities in Emergency Preparedness and Response by coordinating actions with the Secretariat for Risk Management and the Ministry for Social and Economic Inclusion.
