Financial Inclusion Is Essential To Achieve Zero Hunger

When it comes to achieving Zero Hunger, financial inclusion is essential. Even something as simple as a bank account can change the future for a small-holder farmer, explains Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the UN Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. Many of the world's hungry live in rural areas and, because they are excluded from the financial system, they are trapped in poverty, she says. That's why efforts to promote financial inclusion are a key part of anh strategy for reaching zero hunger.
