Food Assistance For Assets: Improving Food Security and Building Resilience in Rwanda

Extreme weather caused by climate change is affecting farmers’ livelihoods in Rwanda. The Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities Project (SZHC) aims to improve food security, reduce poverty levels among vulnerable populations, and increase living standards in Rwanda’s poorest districts by increasing access to livelihood assets. Since the launch of SZHC in 2016, household incomes have risen by an average of 59 percent, with significant improvements in food consumption.
