How WFP Is Assisting Syrian Refugees In Egypt

Egypt, like many countries in the Middle East, has seen a major influx of Syrian refugees in recent months. Some 50,000 Syrians have registered as refugees here, or are awaiting registration. WFP is assisting them by providing food vouchers, which they can use to buy their own food at local supermarkets. At present, WFP is reaching about 30,000 refugees in this way but there are plans to increase that number. Gian Pietro Borudignon, head of WFP's operations in Egypt, explains.
