WFP Airdrops, Airlifts Food To Reach Displaced In South Sudan

Since the start of the conflict in December 2013, more than 2 million South Sudanese have been internally displaced or sought refuge in neighbouring countries. Recent peace talks have been unsuccessful and fighting has intensified increasing the number of people affected and in need of food assistance. WFP is using all means at its disposal – including airdrops, river boats, and distributions of food, cash or vouchers – to reach hungry people in conflict zones with life-saving emergency food and nutrition. In Haat, WFP delivers cereals, pulses, vegetable oil and nutrition products by air through airdrops and airlifts.
