WFP Delivers Food in Syria by Air and by Road (For the Media)

In the last few weeks, WFP and its humanitarian partners reached more people in besieged areas than at any other time since the beginning of the conflict, providing life-saving support including food and nutrition products to thousands of families. WFP has carried out over twenty two airdrops over the besieged eastern Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, dropping urgently needed food assistance – mainly rice, chickpeas, vegetable oil, sugar, salt, bulgur and beans -- to meet the immediate needs of over 100,000 people. WFP will continue to send food and other humanitarian supplies by air in the next few weeks. WFP has delivered food assistance for almost 3.9 million people during the month of April.
