Why Financial Inclusion Is Key To Ethiopia's Fight Against Hunger

For small farmers in Ethiopia, access to credit, insurance and even something as simple as a bank account could bring big dividends. They could invest more in their land and protect themselves better against shocks. This sort of 'financial inclusion' was top of mind this week as high level representatives of WFP, FAO and IFAD traveled to southern Ethiopia with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Maxima is the UN Secretary General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development.
