Burundi - Analyse de la sécurité alimentaire d'urgence dans six provinces du Burundi les plus affectées par l'instabilité socio politique, Novembre 2015

An Emergency Food Security Assessment was launched in October 2015 by the World Food Programme and its partners to understand how the crisis is affecting key food security and malnutrition dimensions including food availability, physical and economic access and utilization; key determinants and trends of malnutrition; markets and evolution of food prices; evolution of main income sources; shocks; coping mechanisms. The aim of the EFSA was to measure the current situation against the results of the Comprehensive Food Security and Vulnerability Assessment (CFSVA) conducted in February 2014. In order to increase the depth of the trends analysis, the EFSA benefits from other reference studies such as the Food Security and Monitoring Systems (FSMS) conducted in November 2014 and June 2015. During the survey design stage, the humanitarian partners conducted a 'zoning exercise' to identify the provinces most affected by the instability to be covered by the EFSA. This process was based on available secondary data in line with the multi-stakeholders Post-electoral contingency plan for Burundi 2015. The six provinces of Bujumbura mairie, Bujumbura rural, Rumonge, Makamba, Kirundo and Cibitoke were identified as the targets of the assessment.
