WFP BURUNDI CRISIS REGIONAL IMPACT SITUATION REPORT #11, 05 AUGUST 2015

Highlights

  • Refugees from Burundi continue to cross borders into neighbouring countries. As at 01 August, more than 180,000 new Burundian refugees had arrived in the DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
  •  WFP urgently requires USD 68 million for the next six months to meet the needs of operations that are responding to the Burundi crisis. In Rwanda, WFP will face pipeline breaks in October if additional funding is not available.
  •  In Burundi, the situation remains tense despite the relatively peaceful presidential elections on 21 July. WFP is providing food support to 100,000 vulnerable people affected by the ongoing crisis in Bujumbura Mairie, Kirundo and Makamba Provinces.
