Joint Assessment Mission (JAM)

A Joint Assessment Mission (JAM) is conducted by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and WFP to assess the food and non-food needs of refugees and other communities of concern to both organisations.

A JAM is conducted:

  • if there is a new influx of refugees following a crisis;
  • to assess the food security and self-reliance of long-term refugees;
  • to lay the groundwork for voluntary repatriation and reintegration.
