A native of New York, Kors is a premier fashion designer who has created an enduring and iconic luxury lifestyle empire. Among the celebrities who have worn Kors’ designs are Jennifer Lopez, Rachel McAdams, Heidi Klum, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Most notably, Michelle Obama, who wore a black sleeveless dress in her first term as First Lady. Kors has been the recipient of numberous fashion industry awards including The Council Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Womenswear Designer of the Year in 1999 and Menswear Designer of the Year in 2003. In 2010, the CFDA acknowledged Kors with their most prestigious honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented by Vogue editor in chief, Anna Wintour.
In 2013, Kors was selected for the Time 100, the magazine’s lists of the 100 most influential New Yorkers. Kors was also a judge on the Emmy-nominated show Project Runway from 2004-2012. In 2013, Kors launched “Watch Hunger Stop” campaign, partnering with WFP to help fight world hunger and designing the 100 Series watch. Proceeds from the limited timepiece provided food to children through WFP’s school meal programs. That same year, actress, Halle Berry joined the campaign to her raise the awareness. In a dedicated effort to continue the fight against hunger, Kors was appointed Global Ambassador Against Hunger in 2015. To date, Kors has helped WFP deliver over ten million meals (and counting) to hungry children.
