Colombia: VAM Methodology Launched to Address Food and Nutrition Insecurity

WFP has provided life saving food assistance to more than 1.3 million people in the Sindh and Balochistan and is reaching over 50,000 new people each day. WFP is preparing to scale up to provide food for 2.5 million people over the coming four months. An initial assessment in Sindh and Balochistan shows that as many as 5.8 million people have been affected.
WFP has provided life-saving food rations to 1.2 million people in eight districts of Sindh, since distributions started on 12 September.
Almost 136,000 children have already received special locally-produced chick pea paste, Wawa Mum, which is vital to preventing and treating malnutrition among children. Around 200 metric tons of Wawa Mum – which can be eaten straight out of the packet and requires no cooking - has been distributed to children aged 6-23 months.
WFP has deployed 14 boats to Badin, Mirpurkhas and Umar Kot to facilitate deliveries in areas still inaccessible by roads. These boats are also being for mobile medical services and to assist in rescue and evacuation of people who are cut off by the flood waters.
