ROME – The Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Ertharin Cousin, travels this week to two of the agency’s leading donors and supporters.
During a three-day visit to Japan, starting Sunday, Cousin will meet government ministers, members of the WFP Parliamentary League, the Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and key private sector partners, to thank them for their support, and to discuss strategic partnerships in addressing hunger and food insecurity with a view to achieving human security.
Cousin will also address a seminar titled “Fighting Hunger Worldwide ” to be attended by government officials, diplomats, UN agencies, NGOs, private companies, university teachers, students, and individuals supporting WFP.
From Japan, Cousin will fly to Australia, where on Wednesday, in Canberra, she will meet the Director General of AusAID, Peter Baxter, and Australian members of parliament.
