WFP's 4th Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference Opens 9 October In The Dead Sea

AMMAN – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will hold the 4th Global Humanitarian Aviation Conference from 9 to 11 October 2012 at King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea in Jordan.

The conference is held in close coordination with the International Civil Aviation Organization, General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE, Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission and Jordan Aviation.

One of the many key objects of the conference is raising awareness throughout the world of the services WFP provides through its aviation arm; the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS).

UNHAS transports employees from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international agencies, donors and media as well as food assistance and essential commodities. The world’s humanitarian air service is also essential during emergencies providing support to WFP Logistics through airlifts and airdrops for food.
