World Food Programme video shows desperate plight of migrants leaving Venezuela

BOGOTÁ/NEW YORK – As world leaders gather in New York for the United Nations General Assembly they will discuss the thousands of people continuing to leave Venezuela in what has become a regional migrant crisis. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) will later today distribute recently-shot video from Colombia, filmed in Cúcuta and surrounding areas, showing migrants on foot, crossing the river at the border, and eating at a WFP-supported community kitchen.

WFP suspends distribution of food assistance in Cúcuta, Colombia

BOGOTA –  The UN World Food Programme (WFP) informs the public that the food assistance it has been carrying out in Cúcuta, Colombia, is being postponed indefinitely. WFP will continue to coordinate with the Colombian authorities with a view to restarting the implementation of the assistance directed at migrants and vulnerable people.

World Food Programme in Colombia needs US$46 million to urgently help 350,000 migrants from Venezuela

PANAMA CITY – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has called for funding to support the roll-out of a US$46 million plan to deliver emergency food assistance to 350,000 impoverished migrants, who have crossed the border from Venezuela into Colombia.
