WFP And NAZA Group Of Companies Launch Hunger Quiz To Improve Nutrition In Asia

KUALA LUMPUR – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the NAZA Group of Companies today launched an online hunger quiz to raise awareness and support for the fight against hunger and undernutrition in Asia. This is the second year that NAZA is sponsoring the initiative.

The NAZA Group has committed US$10,000 as official sponsors of the quiz, a donation which will ensure at least 80,000 nutritious school meals are provided to children in WFP-assisted schools in Asia most in need of financial support.

“We are delighted to again be working with WFP in the fight to end hunger in our lifetimes,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of the NAZA Group. “Until Asia has defeated undernutrition, our development as a region will never be complete.”

Since 2012, NAZA Group has been sponsoring  the WFP hunger quiz  to highlight the Malaysian private sector’s valuable support to WFP. The quiz is part of WFP’s “One Child. One Life. One Chance.” fundraising campaign in Malaysia, which is also endorsed by WFP’s celebrity advocate Marion Caunter.
Anyone can access and play the quiz at For each quiz taken, one school meal will be donated to WFP.

In 2012, over US$40,000 was raised through a similar hunger quiz for WFP’s mother and child health and nutrition activities, thanks to the support of the NAZA Group, Marion Caunter and subscribers to a Groupon Malaysia fundraising deal that supported the campaign.  Largely as a result of these efforts, WFP Malaysia’s online community grew by over 12,000 people in 2012, to nearly 15,000, and new supporters were also brought on board in Singapore and Malaysia.

The NAZA group will be deepening its partnership with WFP in 2013 through joint cause-related marketing activities, as well as direct cash contributions to WFP’s operations in Asia in greatest need of donations.

The NAZA Group of Companies is Malaysia’s largest privately-owned diversified conglomerate with businesses across the ASEAN region in the automotive industry,
property development, as well as food and beverage, and hotel management.

WFP continues to accept contributions in Malaysian ringgit through, which offers eleven different payment methods. All donations made through Ipay88 will be directed to WFP operations where the need is greatest.
