Honduras - mVAM Monitoring

In December 2016, WFP Honduras started remote phone-based data collection for food security monitoring and early warning in the Dry Corridor. This is to complement the existing crop monitoring system jointly managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), the Food Security Technical Unit (UTSAN), the Food Security Observatory (OBSAN), FAO and other NGO partners. Survey respondents include 250 farmers from 8 departments in the Dry Corridor (Choluteca, Valley, South of El Paraíso, Francisco Morazán, Ocotepeque, Intibucá, La Paz and Lempira) who are asked a series of questions on crop harvest, grain stocks and cereal prices.
