Nutrition Causal Analysis Study

Nutrition Causal Analysis Study

Acute malnutrition in south and central Somalia remain high, with GAM rates above the 15% emergency threshold, despite significant humanitarian interventions. The Nutrition Causal Analysis (NCA) investigated the underlying reasons behind the high rates of malnutrition and found that insecurity, climactic shocks and poverty, as well as dominant child care practices are the core drivers of malnutrition. The NCA study will inform programming decisions amongst key actors, towards strengthening nutrition sensitive programming in select regions in south and central Somalia.
