Alzira Ferreria, WFP Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, travelled to Honduras to oversee various programmes that are being implemented by WFP in the region. During her stay Ferreria met with beneficiaries and WFP country office personal.
Ferreria toured the community of El Porvenir, Siguatepque where WFP has implemented school feeding programmes with the support of the national government. In El Porvenir, Ferreria had the opportunity to meet more than 349 student beneficiaries of Coronel Max Martínez School.
Another stop on the Deputy Directors visit was to a Purchase for Progress (P4P) production mill in the department of Comayagua, where smallholders are producing grains that are sold to WFP in Honduras for regional programmes. At the mill smallholders shared their experience in the P4P programme and the process of production with Ferreria.
