A powerful earthquake, measuring 7 on the Richter scale, struck Haiti on Tuesday 12th January.
The quake destroyed buildings, and left a large number of people homeless. The death toll is unknown, but is feared to be high with many people injured. Streets blocked by rubble are rendering rescue and assistance efforts difficult. You can make a donation here, and if your school is organising fundraisers, this would be a worthy cause to consider. Keep watching our homepage for updates on the situation. With your help we can make a difference.
The people in Haiti need your help. World Food Programme needs to get food assistance to the victims before hunger compounds the misery caused by what is believed to be Haiti's worst earthquake in two centuries.
