Escape From C.A.R. – Hanjani’s Story

Hanjani fled her home near Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic, after witnessing the killing of neighbour and a cousin by marauding gangs. Her husband was away at the time and she has no idea where he is -- or even if he is alive. Like many others fleeing the violence, Hanjani took her children over the border into Chad. They are now living in a camp in the town of Sido, where they receive assistance from WFP and other humanitarian agencies. WFP gives her food vouchers - worth US$8 per month - which ensure basic food needs.
