Hemming in the Sahara Desert

For years, families in Mauritania have been fighting a losing battle against the Sahara desert, which is encroaching on their homes at the rate of six kilometres per year. With WFP's help, however, they may have found a way to stop the sand dunes while at the same time creating a sustainable source of income.
