Iraq's Hungry Poor Hit Hard By New Crisis

Yet again, a humanitarian crisis has hit war-torn Iraq. WFP has launched an emergency operation to feed more than half a million people affected by the latest conflict in the north. “The hungry poor are the most affected – many of them displaced in very harsh conditions,” said WFP’s Executive Director, Ertharin Cousin, during her trip to the affected area in late June.
