Life-Saving Food Assistance Delivered to Douma, Syria

For the people in this war-torn enclave in Eastern Ghouta, the best chance of survival is hiding underground, in highly unhygienic conditions and with little electricity. As the shelling and encirclement of Douma continues, children, women and the elderly are the ones who suffer the most from shortages in food, medicine and clean water.

On 15 March, WFP and humanitarian partners delivered food assistance for 26,100 people inside Douma, in the second convoy to enter the city this month.

But more food and other humanitarian assistance are desperately needed to cover the enormous needs of the communities trapped inside.
