UN Agencies Link Ethiopian Farmers To School Meals Programs

In southern Ethiopia, the food produced by a group of smallholder farmers is now being used as part of school meals programs in the region. Linking up farmers with the schools in this way creates new connections in the local food production system and helps to raise the general level of food security. To make it possible, the three Rome-based UN agencies combined their expertise, each one focusing on a specific area of the chain, with the Ethiopian government coordinating the whole.
