UN Says Women at Marked Risk in Ebola-affected Countries Food Vital to Response (For the Media)

Supporting the medical response to stop the spread of Ebola, that has killed more than 5,100 people, WFP is focusing on meeting the basic food and nutrition needs of affected families and communities in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Nearly 1.5 million people have received WFP food assistance since April. WFP is using innovative methods including cell phone surveys to assess how the Ebola outbreak is disrupting farming and markets and eroding people’s purchasing power, to help prevent this health crisis from becoming a food and nutrition crisis.
