New E-Cards Make Life Easier For Syrian Refugees in Lebanon

WFP has begun distributing electronic food vouchers, or "e-cards", to Syrian refugees in Lebanon. The cards work very much like debit cards and look like them too. It's a way of simplifying life for refugees, who are now able to go into shops and buy food in the same way as any other customer. The programme is being rolled out, first in Lebanon and then in Jordan, with technical support from MasterCard.
