UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince donates privately to WFP’s operations in Gaza as starvation deepens

DUBAI – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes the vital collaboration from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates, to support families facing extreme hunger and starvation in Gaza.

Thanks to his personal contributions in the past year, His Highness currently ranks among WFP’s top five individual contributors globally to Gaza, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to humanitarian action. His contributions of US$400,000 in the past year have enabled WFP to deliver hot meals and bread, life-saving food assistance for families in Gaza where the worst-case scenario of famine is unfolding. Half a million people in the enclave are on the brink of famine, while the rest endure emergency levels of hunger.

“With deep commitment to alleviating suffering, His Highness sets a powerful example of leadership and solidarity across the Gulf Cooperation Council region and beyond,” said Stephen Anderson, WFP Director in the GCC. “We are grateful for His Highness’s heartfelt generosity and timely support.”

“As an Emirati, I believe feeding the poor isn’t just an act of charity but of faith, heritage and humanity. God willing, I hope to become the single largest individual donor through WFP to Gaza,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.
