Valerie Guarnieri is the Chief of Staff, ad interim of the World Food Programme (WFP). From 2018 through 2025, Ms. Guarnieri served as WFP’s Assistant Executive Director for Programme Operations, overseeing the development of WFP’s Strategic Plan and the design and delivery of food, cash and technical assistance programmes to meet emergency needs, strengthen human capital and improve food security. Previously, she led the global programme function, and held regional and country leadership positions, based in Kenya, the Philippines and Zimbabwe.
