The World Food Programme (WFP) is working with the Government of Colombia and partners to support long-term integration of Venezuelan migrants and internally displaced people. Focusing on Bogotá, Medellín and border areas, the project will expand access to social protection, vocational training and support for microbusinesses and new enterprises. It aims to reach over 4,000 families by 2026 and seeks additional funding beyond the US$2 million already secured.
WFP has experience implementing socioeconomic integration projects – reaching 7,000 families (28,000 people) in Colombia in the past four years – together with a vast network of public-private actors. WFP already has a presence in the areas proposed for this intervention and has cultivated solid relationships with local institutions and communities. Partnership will support the sustainability of the project beyond its first year, and help to transform the lives of migrants and IDPs in Colombia.
