In March 2022, the World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Board formally approved the WFP Evaluation Policy 2022, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to benefiting from evaluation in its performance management, accountability and learning systems, and to complying with United Nations evaluation principles, norms and standards.
The evaluation policy has a time horizon of 2030, but a review of the policy implementation was planned for 2025-2026 with a view to informing any revisions to the policy deemed necessary. The proposed review is expected to follow the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) and the Development Assistance Committee of the Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD-DAC) external peer review process; the recognized mechanism for assessing evaluation policies in the UN system.
