The World Food Programme's Food Assistance for Training (FFT) links short-term food support with market skills, job connections and access to assets and finance, so vulnerable people can earn income and improve food security.

Food for Training is designed as a sequenced pathway that moves participants from immediate support to sustainable livelihoods. It begins with food assistance provided throughout the upskilling phase. The training is tailored to local market demand and individual profiles, ensuring that skills acquired are relevant and applicable in real economic contexts.

This demand-driven approach increases the likelihood of successful transition into employment or viable self-employment. To support this transition, FFT facilitates practical linkages with the labor market, including connections to employers, business development services, and access to financial capital and start-up support where needed.

Sustainability is reinforced through strong partnerships with national institutions, training providers, and the private sector. By embedding activities within local systems and aligning them with market needs, FFT supports not only individual livelihoods, but also more inclusive and resilient local economies.
