The eighth instalment of research conducted by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), continues to shed light on how natural hazards and the rising cost of living are affecting food security and household livelihoods across the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean.
Natural hazards, paired with the rising cost of living, continue to endanger food security and household livelihoods across the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. The proportion of individuals facing food insecurity remains unchanged from 2024, signalling a concerning stagnation following the rebound from the 2022 food price crisis.
To better understand and respond to these challenges, CARICOM has been implementing the Caribbean Food Security and Livelihoods Survey since 2020. This initiative captures key insights into market access, household wellbeing and food availability. Now in its eighth round, the survey provides crucial data that supports policy analysis and guides strategic decisions by regional governments and development agencies. The results underscore the deepening impact of climate change and economic pressures on the region's vulnerable communities.
The survey includes a dashboard that provides quick access to the findings for all Caribbean countries covered by the survey.
