It is a direct output of a new collaboration between the two organizations on disaster risk finance for adaptive social protection (DRF4ASP). Introduced at COP 29, DRF4ASP is designed to amplify the impact of the Global Shield against Climate Risks, optimizing the speed of response and the inclusivity of solutions to protect the most vulnerable people from the impacts of disaster. While the DRF4ASP collaboration is new, efforts to more effectively link disaster risk finance to adaptive social protection systems are ongoing. Several countries have some experience with these approaches, while many others are interested in exploring how to do so, given the potential benefits. Both governments and other stakeholders engaged in the DRF and social protection sectors can draw valuable insights from this note.
