Author: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Food Programme (WFP)
Based on the most comprehensive and up-to-date data, this report provides the first overview of the extent to which countries have school health and nutrition (SHN) policies and programmes in place.

The world is only just starting to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and must now contend with colliding learning, food, and climate crises - children are most severely impacted by these concurrent crises. Today, the widespread coverage of school health and nutrition interventions is therefore more important than ever.

School health and nutrition interventions protect and promote the physical and mental health, nutrition, well-being and development of school-age children and adolescents through coordinated strategies within the education system.

This report demonstrates the far-reaching impacts and high returns of investments in school health and nutrition programmes and urges governments to scale-up their efforts to provide a comprehensive package of interventions.
