WFP Yemen Situation Report #5, 07 May 2015
  • In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, WFP has provided emergency food assistance to 1,103,000 people since 15 April. WFP aims to scale up its emergency response to reach 2.5 million conflict-affected people between May and July.
  • However, without urgent receipt of fuel for humanitarian operations, WFP will no longer be able to provide any food assistance. Already, WFP has been forced to stop food distributions as fuel supply has been depleted in Hodeidah. Distributions may also be halted in Sana’a and Haradh if fuel is not received in the next few days.
  • WFP and its local partners are facing major challenges distributing food assistance, given the constrained access due to ongoing insecurity, armed clashes and airstrikes.
  • WFP continues to maintain operational capacity on the ground with 187 national staff across the country, while international staff are operating remotely from Amman.
