This report explores the prices of food items in Iraq in relation to a myriad of factors that govern the purchasing power of Iraqis and help shed some light on the food consumption and nutrition trends in the country.
  • The prices of essential food commodities are increasing and impacting the purchasing power of vulnerable Iraqis. Wage rates have not been revised over the past two years and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war is exacerbating the already deteriorating food security situation. The benefits from higher oil prices will be offset by an increase in import bills. Despite sluggish economic growth, inflation that has been on the rise and with it the risk of stagflation.
