Given the record high inflation rates of 36 percent in December 2021 the food basket cost in contracted markets increased from TRY 213 in September to TRY 315 at the end of the year.
The annual inflation rate in Q4 2021 is 36.1 percent as of December 2021 and food inflation rate reached 44 percent. Even though the contracted markets offer the lowest food basket cost, the price increase from September to December 2021 was actualized at 48 percent. Currently, transfer value covers 38 percent of the food basket alone; even without taking the non-food item expenses that was supposedly covered by 20 percent of the transfer value.
