Highlights
- WFP gears up to undertake assessments in Unity where an estimated 30,000 people are experiencing Catastrophe and are likely to deteriorate into famine in the absence of urgent and immediate humanitarian access. Around six sites will be assessed next week to confirm the extent of the Catastrophe. High-energy biscuits will be distributed in conjunction with the rapid verification assessments. The missions will also include Security Experts that will look into the possibility of opening these areas for a more thorough response.
- WFP strategies help set the 2016 Humanitarian Response Plan. WFP is working with several clusters —- particularly the Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Education, and Multi-Sector (for refugees) —- in detailing the scope of the response. Activities under the PRRO and the EMOP will feed into the HRP.
