Highlights
- New arrivals to Bentiu’s Protection of Civilian site (PoC) receiving immediate nutrition intervention. WFP’s Nutrition team is working with the sub-office in Bentiu and its partner German Agro Action, to provide Supercereal Plus, a specialized nutrition product, to newly arrived children under five while waiting for the regular food distribution, to prevent the occurrence of malnutrition. Thus far about 2,500 children have been reached. NGO partner Concern Worldwide plans to conduct a SMART survey that will provide insights into the causes of malnutrition.
- Food distibutions completed in Malakal's PoC, despite various transport and security challenges. Significant logistical delays and an unpredictable security situation in the Upper Nile state capital have obstructed WFP operations in Malakal. WFP managed to complete distributions of 30-day food rations in the PoC from 16 to 21 July to about 30,000 internally displaced people.
