Highlights
- WFP brings urgently needed food and nutrition assistance to Nyal (Unity) following the reported arrival of approximately 28,000 IDPs affected by the conflict. UNICEF is also present on the ground to treat severe acute malnutrition. Nyal is one of the largest sites in southern Unity with a previous caseload of 60,000 beneficiaries. In early August, WFP had been forced to suspend distributions and evacuate the area following reports of a potential upsurge in fighting.
- 2015 Prepositioning Exercise comes to a successful conclusion. Over 89,000 mt of food commodities, representing 84 percent of prepo requirements, have been dispatched to 50 locations across the country.
- WFP launches call for proposals for the 2016 PRRO Cooperating Partner Selection. WFP aims to encourage and attract high quality proposals which will yield the best outcomes for the beneficiaries it serves. Special attention will be placed on selecting national partners as a means of building national NGO capacity.
- Analysis ongoing to develop the Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring System (FSNMS) which will feed into the Integrated Food Security and Phase Classification (IPC) Report. The FSNMS will also critically include an urban section focusing on Juba.
