Content package marking one year since start of Rohingya refugee crisis
ROME – It was on 25 August a year ago that the huge exodus from Myanmar of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees began. There are now nearly a million Rohingyas living in camps in and around Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh - the largest concentration of refugees in the world. For their survival, they are totally reliant on humanitarian organisations including the World Food Programme (WFP), and on the government and people of Bangladesh.
To maintain focus on the plight of the Rohingyas who are now facing the onslaught of monsoon rains, WFP is offering video footage and photographs from the camps where we provide life-saving food assistance as well as opportunities for interviews with WFP personnel on the front line of this critically underfunded humanitarian crisis.
