UN to launch new progress report on achieving Zero Hunger

Snapshot on global hunger and malnutrition, and analysis of their main drivers.
On 11 September 2018, the new edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World will be launched by five UN agencies – The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP), the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The report gives an updated estimate of the number of hungry people in the world, including regional and national breakdowns, and the latest data on child stunting and wasting as well as on adult and child obesity.
It is an important yardstick in measuring progress towards the Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger.
The report also offers analysis of the drivers of hunger and malnutrition, and this year includes a special focus on the impact of climate variability and extremes.
The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World will be launched at a news conference at FAO’s headquarters on Tuesday 11 September 2018 at 11:00 CEST.
The event will be webcast live, and simultaneous translation will be available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
