WFP implemented energy-related initiatives in 53 countries in 2024, reaching over 800,000 people through cooking interventions and providing energy access to another 800,000 individuals. Additionally, 37,000 smallholder farmers benefited from energy solutions for productive uses such as irrigation and drying. For household cooking, 17 countries promoted improved cookstoves through local manufacturing, government engagement, and direct distribution. Sri Lanka and Tajikistan introduced advanced technologies like electric pressure cookers and solar cookers, while Tanzania launched a humanitarian programme for 5,000 households and began carbon accreditation for its cookstove project.
